Vacancy - Chair of Link Group Ltd

Link Group Ltd is looking to recruit a successor to our current Chair, Roy Stirrat, who will resign by December 2017.

Link group is one of Scotland's largest providers of social rented properties and associated services.
Our group of eight social enterprise companies provide a wide range of services in 26 Scottish local authority areas.  We have more than 650 staff serving over 15,000 customers and have ambitious plans to make more of our services available to people who need them most. We have established our biggest ever development programme of 3,000 homes within the next five years.
During 2016, we achieved a surplus of £4.4 million, capital expenditure on new or improved homes for rent or shared ownership of £39 million, a gross turnover of £58.4 million and financial reserves of £82 million.

What’s in it for you?

As the Chair, you’ll take a lead role in influencing Link’s strategic direction and help drive our ambition to grow and improve our services.   Working with two Vice Chairs, board members and senior staff colleagues, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring we articulate clear goals and achieve our plans whilst keeping people at the heart of everything we do.  Our board members volunteer their time to prepare for and attend regular business and other operational meetings, as well as training, information, promotional and housing site visit events.  Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an outstanding leader who can enthuse, inspire and motivate everyone involved with Link to improve the extent, reach and scale of our services.  You’ll easily be able to demonstrate that you share our determination to help others and that you possess extensive strategic experience to help develop our business.  Experience in a relevant governance role is expected to help ensure you’re quickly able to establish credibility in this key role.
Time commitment for the role of Chair is estimated to require four to six days per month, based mainly at Link's Edinburgh office but also at the other offices and sites of the Group.
We intend our boards to reflect our diverse population and welcome interest from all sectors of our communities and, in particular, from women and people from black and minority ethnic groups.
