14/06/2016 - Industry and government figures are to attend the annual Oil
and Gas UK conference in Aberdeen.
Investment,
exploration and new technology will form the focus of this year's event at the
Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC).
Scotland's
Economy Secretary Keith Brown and UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate
Change Amber Rudd will be among those in attendance.
Discussion
on the EU referendum will also play a part in the two-day event.
Jobs lost
as a result of the downturn in the UK oil and gas sector could top 120,000 by the end of this
year, according
to a report last week.
Industry
body Oil and Gas UK has estimated 84,000 jobs linked to the industry went in
2015, with 40,000 losses expected this year.
